L&P Named by U.S. News & World Report as “Best Law Firm” For Fourth Consecutive Year

Laurence & Phillips IP Law (L&P) is pleased to announce that – for the fourth year in a row – it has been recognized by U.S. News & World Reports as one of the “Best Law Firms.”  In each of 2020-2022, L&P has been included as one of 50 firms to earn a National Tier 1 ranking for the practice area of Patent Law.  For 2023, L&P has earned a Tier 1 ranking for the Washington, D.C. metro area and a National Tier 2 ranking, both in patent law. 

“We are one of only four micro-sized law firms (under ten attorneys) to garner the National Tier 2 honor in patent law,” says L&P co-founder Matt Phillips.  Four more micro-sized firms were included in Tier 3.  For the first time, no micro-sized firms were included in Tier 1, which is dominated by the mega-sized firms.  In the prior three years, L&P was the only micro-sized firm in Tier 1.

The USNWR “Best Law Firm” rankings are the result of a rigorous evaluation process, including evaluations by clients and other lawyers, peer review from leading attorneys in their field, and review of additional information provided by law firms as part of a formal submission process.  To be eligible for a USNWR “Best Law Firm” ranking, a firm must have at least one lawyer included in The Best Lawyers in America © in the current year.  Both Kevin Laurence and Matt Phillips have been repeatedly recognized by The Best Lawyers in America ©.
