L&P Files Two Reissue Applications in August 2020
Laurence & Phillips IP Law (L&P) co-founder Matt Phillips filed two reissue applications this month (U.S. Patent Appl. Nos. 16/536,203 and 16/994,348). Over the last twelve years, L&P lawyers have filed and prosecuted dozens of reissue applications and developed a deep expertise in the many esoteric aspects of reissues. L&P co-founder Kevin Laurence explained, “This is a golden age for reissue. Case law over the last few years has made broadening reissues more attractive and having reissue applications examined by knowledgeable examiners in the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) has brought efficiency to reissue prosecution, enabling shorter pendencies and prompter allowances.” Phillips highlighted the ’348 Application, which was filed on behalf of L&P client Atheer, Inc., which makes enterprise software using augmented-reality technology: “Virtual reality and augmented reality are fascinating and I can understand why many insiders believe it will be at the center of the next revolution in personal computing.”
