L&P Convinces the PTAB to Reverse Examiner’s Rejections of Client’s Claims
Laurence & Phillips IP Law (L&P) represents the owner of U.S Patent Application 11/499,315, which relates generally to video display technology with “tags.” L&P appealed the examiner’s many obviousness rejections. The Board reversed in part, finding that the examiner’s rejections were not always supported by the references applied by the examiner. Matt Phillips, a former patent examiner who has briefed and argued numerous ex parte appeals as an attorney, stated, “Appeal can be an effective – and cost-effective – way to overcome rejections when it is not productive to work with a patent examiner.”
