L&P Files IPR Petition for Unified Patents against Hailo's Patent

On July 31, 2017, Unified Patents, represented by Laurence & Phillips IP Law, filed a petition for inter partes review (IPR) against U.S. Patent 5,973,619, which is owned and asserted by Hailo Technologies, LLC.  The '619 patent, directed to a taxi dispatch and payment system, was first asserted in April 2017 in two district court cases against Uber and Lyft.  A week later, the Electronic Frontier Foundation awarded the '619 patent its “Stupid Patent of the Month” award.  The gist of the ’619 Patent can be appreciated by its Figure 2, which is provided below.
