L&P Prevails in Appeal at the PTAB

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office today issued a decision reversing all examiner rejections in U.S. Patent Appl. No. 13/331,049 (Appeal No. 2020-004414), an application handled by Laurence & Phillips IP Law (L&P) on behalf of its client Gula Consulting Limited Liability Company, which is affiliated with Intellectual Ventures Management LLC.  The application relates to technologies that enable a computer user to navigate an information hierarchy, such as webpages, using spoken voice commands.  The appeal was handled by L&P attorneys Derek Meeker and Matt Phillips.  “The ability to effectively appeal weak rejections that patent examiners are unwilling to withdraw is an indispensable tool in a good patent attorney’s toolbox,” explained Derek Meeker.
