L&P Files Two Reissue Applications in June 2020

L&P lawyer Matt Phillips filed two reissue applications this month (U.S. Patent Appl. Nos. 16/894,593 and 16/902,799).  Over the last twelve years, L&P lawyers have filed and prosecuted dozens of reissue applications and developed a deep expertise in the many esoteric aspects of reissues.  L&P founder Kevin Laurence explained, “This is a golden age for reissue.  Case law over the last few years has made broadening reissues more attractive and having reissue applications examined by knowledgeable examiners in the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) has brought efficiency to reissue prosecution, enabling shorter pendencies and prompter allowances.”  Phillips added, “Continuation reissues are a great way to continue to extract value for inventions.  One of these cases is a continuation reissue of a pre-GATT patent that claims priority back to 1991.  Amazingly, we are able to prosecute that patent application almost 30 years later, with several years of term still ahead.”
